Ye shall know the truth and the truth will set you free.

"The propitious smiles of heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained ."

Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.   And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.   When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.   Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.   Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.

You can picture the scene.  Jesus is standing in the Praetorium of Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor of Judea.  He faces a crowd turned angry mob crying for His blood.  He does not flinch, even in the face of the cruelest form of execution ever devised by man.
Many of us have recoiled in horror that One so innocent could actually be condemned and rejected by a howling mob.
We celebrate His Birthday at Christmastime, or maybe we should say that we used to celebrate His Birthday at this time of year.
But these days, the 25th of December is no longer Christmas but “Holiday”, so as not to offend those who don’t particularly care about Jesus Christ.
So what’s Christmas, or “Holiday” like without Jesus Christ?
Unless you’re in front of a church, you probably won’t find a Nativity scene, except in rare places.  The ACLU has sued many of them out of existence.  After all, if it’s unconstitutional to pray in our public schools, why should we celebrate the Birthday of the One we pray to?
Newscasts around this time of year focus on shoppers and the retail market.  They describe fights in the stores over the latest bargains.  And should anyone be hurt or killed in these fistfights, why, that’s the stuff of which headlines are made.
Of course these kind of fights never happened when Christ remained in Christmas.
We didn’t just wake up from a bad dream.  The journey to a Christless Christmas has been deliberate and steady.  And it shows signs of getting worse.
There are a few milestones along the way in the journey that brought us here.
And still they cry, “Crucify”.
June 25, 1962.  Engle vs Vitale.  The United States Supreme Court decides prayer in public schools is unconstitutional and immediately bans the practice which predates the First Amendment!  It is noteworthy that not a single student was ever slain on a public school campus until after this decision was issued.  God was thrown out and the metal detectors moved in.  And students continue to die on our educational campuses.  But still they cry, “Crucify”.
January 23, 1973.  Roe vs Wade.  Again, the United States Supreme Court decides that the most dangerous place in America is a mother’s womb.  If you think the death toll at the World Trade Center is something to write home about, consider that more than 50 million babies for whom Jesus died have had their lives snuffed out as a result of this decision in the name of convenience.  Had they been allowed to live, do you think our economy would be teeter-tottering on the brink of collapse?  But still they cry, “Crucify”.
Court decisions too numerous to count have removed the Bible from public places because it might be offensive to some.  But let’s face it.  The Bible wasn’t written to be a New York Times Best Seller.  It was written to show man where his problem lies.  And just as important, the Bible shows man where the solution to his problems can be found.  But still they cry, “Crucify”.
You can’t celebrate Christmas these days because Muslims and others might be offended.  But these folks are trying to ram Sharia Law into the U.S. Legal system.  And our problems continue to get worse.
These people forget one important fact.  That baby Who was born in a manger two thousand years ago is all grown up now.  Soon, Jesus Christ will come back to this planet to retrieve His own.  Mohammed is still in the grave in which his followers put him, so he isn’t coming or going anywhere.  Neither are any of the others like Buddah, whose tomb remains occupied as well.  Only Jesus’ tomb is empty.  And if you open your heart to Him, your heart will be full.
Merry Christmas.

Matthew 27:22-26

And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.  And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
